An existing two level brick warehouse is converted to a mixed use development including ground floor retail, residential accommodation within the upper level of the warehouse, and two new levels of residential apartments above.
The original masonry walls and timber structure were designed to accommodate an additional two levels and now forms a platform on which the new volumes are placed. These new volumes are a series of interlocking, metal clad timber elements that contrast with the monolithic masonry warehouse below.
The warehouse is stripped back to face brick, its original windows reinstated, and the timber structure left exposed.
