Bennett and Trimble practices architecture and urbanism. The partnership was established in 2009 by Matthew Bennett and Marcus Trimble to contribute to a broad range of projects, from large strategic masterplans to minor interventions in the public and private domain. Current projects include a cultural centre masterplan for Macquarie University, new architecture studios for the University of Sydney, a multi-residential project in Surry Hills, and various projects for the NSW Department of Education and the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

We do not bring a preconceived understanding or approach to a project. We work with the various stakeholders to understand the problem and bring a broad conceptual and diagrammatic clarity to projects to produce an unexpected and excellent outcome.

Matthew Bennett and Marcus Trimble are active participants in the architecture profession and were selected to present their work at the Sydney Opera House 40th Anniversary Design Symposium, the 2009 Australian Institute of Architects National Conference and the City of Sydney Architecture on Show talks at the Surry Hills Library. They have taught design studios at UNSW and the University of Sydney and currently teach design and professional practice at UTS. Matthew Bennett has recently led two Masters design studios as part of the Sydney Metropolis Project exploring university student housing and K-12 public schools. In both studios, students were asked to explore new models, typologies and strategies for the Sydney CBD and to consider the social, urban and architectural consequences of their proposal.

Bennett and Trimble is prequalified under the NSW Government Architect’s Strategy and Design Excellence Scheme.
